What is Medical Malpractice?

What is medical malpractice?  The most basic description of medical malpractice is the negligence of one party who is participating in some sort of medical and/or health profession, who receives compensation, but who at the same time, lacks a reasonable degree of care and skill.

If another party were to suffer some sort of injury as a result of this lack of care and/or skill by the medical professional, such injury may be deemed to be significant enough to bring suit against the professional.  If a court determines that, indeed, there was some reasonable degree of lack of care and/or skill, then the court may find for the party who suffered from this lack or care and/or skill and reward that party in the form of monetary compensation.
